How to Cure Varicose Veins with the Help of Tomato

You might have read many articles about the varicose veins and the efficient methods of Russian folk medicine for their treatment. Now, we will introduce another effective recipe for the treatment of this ailment.

Most people are familiar with the beneficial properties of tomatoes, but not everyone is familiar with the fact that you can cure varicose veins with the help of tomatoes.

There are two ways of healing the varicose veins using green and red ripe tomatoes.

The treatment of varicose veins with green tomatoes

Green tomato is a simple home remedy that can be used in the fight with varicose veins.

It is necessary to wash a few green tomatoes and cut them into slices (or rings). Put the slices of green tomatoes on the nodes of varicose veins and the vein capillary network. If necessary, tie some bandage. Keep the tomatoes at these locations until you feel a tingling sensation on the skin. If you cannot stand the feeling, remove it as soon as you feel a burning sensation, and wash the veins with cool water. If this procedure goes well, the result will be visible very soon. This procedure should be repeated five times a day, preferably in a row.

After two weeks of implementation of these everyday procedures, the venous nodes will start to fade. The capillary network, nodes, swelling and pain in the veins will eventually disappear.

Apart from green tomatoes, matured red tomato can also help in the disappearing of the varicose veins.

The treatment of varicose veins with ripe red tomatoes

The procedure is similar to the previous. Ripe tomatoes should be washed, cut into thin slices and placed on the painful veins for 3-4 hours and consolidated with some bandage. After some time replace the tomato with a new one. This procedure is preferable to be conducted in the evening or at night.

Course duration of the treatment is individual. You can conduct this treatment during the whole summer and in combination with green tomatoes.

Tomato has healing properties because in it, in addition to the seeds, there is a substance that is in its properties similar to aspirin. This acid is considered to be an anticoagulant, which dilutes the blood and does not give it stagnation. In addition, the tomato has flavanoids that strengthen the blood vessel walls.

Ignore Big Pharma; There Is a Natural Cure Established for Hepatitis C

by PAUL FASSA

A few years ago I wrote an article disclosing how the CDC was considering a vaccination program of injecting hepatitis A and B vaccines for baby boomers. That's because there is currently no vaccine for hepatitis C. After a bit of background on this issue, the last section of this article will explain a safe, effective, inexpensive natural approach.

The CDC's bright idea was meant to circumvent what they assumed would be an epidemic of hepatitis C cases among baby boomers since some of them experimented with injecting drugs and blood transfusions took place up to 1990 without current blood screening technology.

Supposedly, hepatitis C is transmitted by blood only, not saliva or sex fluids. But the notion of a specific virus has come under controversial scrutiny from respected virologists and health writers.

The Invention of the Germ Theory: Who Benefited

Around the time Luis Pasteur was successfully promoting his germ theory for all diseases, one germ for each disease, some French scientists argued that the condition of one's "inner [physiological] terrain" was more responsible for disease and attracting the germs Pasteur claimed he, some say fraudulently, found as the sources of diseases.

This analogy simplifies their argument against Pasteur's germ theory: We all know that stagnant water attracts mosquitoes to lay their larvae which hatch into more mosquitoes to infest the area around or near the water. Clean fresh water does not.

The stagnant water is analogous to disease, inflamed, or low pH (acid) tissue, which provides the environment for pathogens to survive. But just as the mosquitoes did not cause the water to become stagnant, neither do the "germs" cause the disease.

In the 1930s, Royal ("Roy") Raymond Rive discovered viruses changing form and function through his own invented incredible universal microscope, sometimes as often as six times, within various stages of diseased tissues. This confirmed a handful of scientists' unpopular concept of viral pleomorphism, i.e., viruses changing form and function according to the state of diseased tissue.

But Big Pharma prefers the one germ for one disease theory over blaming it on the "inner terrain". It's much more profitable to create new antiviral and antibacterial drugs instead of enhancing the inner terrain with diet, life style changes, supplements, and herbs.

The test that was created to detect the Hep-C virus depends more on certain markers other than an isolated virus itself. So are those markers simply helping create a virus that can lead to yet another Big Pharma drug?

You can read more details about the missing virus controversy within the Hep-C issue in these articles from Jon Rappoport and this author's earlier article.

One thing is for certain, the latest "blockbuster" drugs are insanely expensive, a thousand dollars per pill for the latest, which has not been tested much for safety among a large population over time. The older drugs for Hep-C were not as much but still very expensive. They often caused horrible side effects, and rarely had positive results. This is all similar to chemo with cancer.

There Is A Cheaper, Safer, and More Effective Way

Over two decades ago in the Integrative Medical Center of New Mexico, Dr. Burton Berkson, MD, a highly credentialed academic and physician conducted a trial on some Hepatitis C patients whose pharmaceutical interventions had failed to the point they were on track for liver transplants.

He used supplements with dietary, mild exercise recommendations, and lifestyle changes (less stress and anger) –successfully. But he could only publish his human trial in a German publication, leaving it unavailable to domestic doctors. That would have been bad for pharmaceutical business.

Here are the supplements Dr. Burton discovered work and currently Dr. Julian Whitaker successfully uses for Hep-C cases:

*Alpha lipoic acid boosts levels of glutathione, a detoxifying antioxidant that is particularly protective of the liver.

*Silymarin, an herbal extract derived from milk thistle, also increases glutathione levels, plus it curbs inflammation and rejuvenates the liver by stimulating the production of new hepatic cells.

*Selenium, a trace mineral, slows the replication of the hepatitis C [suspected] virus.

The daily doses are 600 mg of alpha lipoic acid, 900 mg of silymarin (milk thistle extract), and 400 mcg of selenium, taken in divided doses. They also took vitamins C, B, and E and ate substantial servings for fresh fruits and vegetables with less meat. A mineral was also included, perhaps magnesium. I don't have that particular information.

The total cost would be maybe $2,000 over a year. Compare that to $60,000 to $90,000 the "conventional" pharmaceutical way. Hepatitis C is considered the silent disease, sometimes without symptoms, that can create liver cirrhosis and force a liver transplant if not cured.

If you've been "diagnosed" with Hep-C or your liver enzymes are chronically high, you may want to look into the supplements Dr. Burton has discovered works and that Dr. Whitaker uses for Hep-C cases. It's also been determined that chlorella in large doses, three to five grams daily, is an excellent liver detox supplement.

The usual liver health advice of little to no alcohol consumption, no smoking, avoiding processed foods, avoiding liver toxic over the counter drugs containing acetaminophen (Tylenol, etc), and prescribed drugs that create liver side effects while also walking a mile or so three times a week or more is what has been prescribed.

This “Miracle Health Food” Has Been Linked to Brain Damage and Breast Cancer

by DR. MERCOLA

If you were to carefully review the thousands of studies published on soy, I strongly believe you would reach the same conclusion as I have—which is, the risks of consuming unfermented soy products FAR outweigh any possible benefits.

Notice I said unfermented soy products.

For centuries, Asian people have been consuming fermented soy products such as natto, tempeh, and soy sauce, and enjoying the health benefits. Fermented soy does not wreak havoc on your body like unfermented soy products do.

Unfortunately, many Americans who are committed to healthy lifestyles have been hoodwinked and manipulated into believing that unfermented and processed soy products like soymilk, soy cheese, soy burgers and soy ice cream are good for them.

How Did Soy Foods Become So Popular?

If it seems like soy foods appeared out of nowhere to be regarded as the "miracle health food" of the 21st Century, it's because they did.

From 1992 to 2006, soy food sales increased from $300 million to nearly $4 billion, practically overnight, according to the Soyfoods Association of North America. This growth came about due to a massive shift in attitudes about soy. And this shift was no accident—it was the result of a massive investment in advertising by the soy industry that's been wildly successful.

Soy is indeed big business, very big business.

From 2000 to 2007, U.S. food manufacturers introduced more than 2,700 new soy-based foods, and new soy products continue to appear on your grocer's shelves.

According to the survey Consumer Attitudes About Nutrition 2008 (by the United Soybean Board):

  • -As of 2007, 85 percent of consumers perceive soy products as healthful
  • -33 percent of Americans eat soy foods or beverages at least once a month
  • -70 percent of consumers believe soybean oil is good for them
  • -84 percent of consumers agree with the FDA's claim that consuming 25 grams of soy protein daily reduces your risk of heart disease

This is a tragic case of shrewd marketing and outright lies taking root among the masses with the end result of producing large profits for the soy industry and impaired health for most who have been deceived into using unfermented soy long-term..

As you can see from the extensive list of articles below, there is a large amount of scientific research showing that soy is not the nutritional panacea of the 21st Century.

The Dark Side of Soy

The vast majority of soy at your local market is not a health food. The exception is fermented soy, which I'll explain more about later and even worse GMO soy that is contaminated with large pesticide residues as the reason it is GMO is so they can spray the potent toxic herbicide Roundup on them to improve crop production by killing the weeds.

Unlike the Asian culture, where people eat small amounts of whole non-GMO soybean products, western food processors separate the soybean into two golden commodities—protein and oil. And there is nothing natural or safe about these products.

Dr. Kaayla Daniel, author of The Whole Soy Story, points out thousands of studies linking soy to malnutrition, digestive distress, immune-system breakdown, thyroid dysfunction, cognitive decline, reproductive disorders and infertility—even cancer and heart disease.

Here is just a sampling of the health effects that have been linked to soy consumption:

Soy proponents will argue that soy-based foods (they lump the fermented ones with the unfermented) will protect you from everything from colon, prostate and breast cancer to strokes, osteoporosis, and asthma.

But said enthusiasts never mention the studies that illuminate soy's downside and all of the dangers posed to your health, which are based on sound research.

Another unfortunate fact is that 80 percent of the world's soy is used in farm animal feed, which is why soy production is contributing to deforestation. Some soy propagandists have suggested that the solution to this is for all of us to become vegetarians—a reckless recommendation rooted in total ignorance about nutrition—whereas a far better solution is a major overhaul in how farm animals are fed and raised.

What Makes Soy Such a Risky Food to Eat?

Here is a summary of soy's most glaring problems.

  1. 91 percent of soy grown in the US is genetically modified (GM).  The genetic modification is done to impart resistance to the toxic herbicide Roundup. While this is meant to increase farming efficiency and provide you with less expensive soy, the downside is that your soy is loaded with this toxic pesticide. The plants also contain genes from bacteria that produce a protein that has never been part of the human food supply. GM soy has been linked to an increase in allergies. Disturbingly, the only published human feeding study on GM foods ever conducted verified that the gene inserted into GM soy transfers into the DNA of our gut bacteria and continues to function. This means that years after you stop eating GM soy, you may still have a potentially allergenic protein continuously being produced in your intestines.Even more frightening is the potential for GM soy to cause infertility in future generations, which has been evidenced by recent Russian research.
  2. Soy contains natural toxins known as "anti-nutrients. "Soy foods contain anti-nutritional factors such as saponins, soyatoxin, phytates, protease inhibitors, oxalates, goitrogens and estrogens. Some of these factors interfere with the enzymes you need to digest protein. While a small amount of anti-nutrients would not likely cause a problem, the amount of soy that many Americans are now eating is extremely high.
  3. Soy contains hemagglutinin. Hemagglutinin is a clot-promoting substance that causes your red blood cells to clump together. These clumped cells are unable to properly absorb and distribute oxygen to your tissues.
  4. Soy contains goitrogens Goitrogens are substances that block the synthesis of thyroid hormones and interfere with iodine metabolism, thereby interfering with your thyroid function.
  5. Soy contains phytates. Phytates (phytic acid) bind to metal ions, preventing the absorption of certain minerals, including calcium, magnesium, iron, and zinc — all of which are co-factors for optimal biochemistry in your body. This is particularly problematic for vegetarians, because eating meat reduces the mineral-blocking effects of these phytates (so it is helpful—if you do eat soy—to also eat meat).
  6. Soy is loaded with the isoflavones genistein and daidzein Isoflavones are a type of phytoestrogen, which is a plant compound resembling human estrogen. These compounds mimic and sometimes block the hormone estrogen, and have been found to have adverse effects on various human tissues. Soy phytoestrogens are known to disrupt endocrine function, may cause infertility, and may promote breast cancer in women.Drinking even two glasses of soymilk daily for one month provides enough of these compounds to alter your menstrual cycle. Although the FDA regulates estrogen-containing products, no warnings exist on soy.
  7. Soy has toxic levels of aluminum and manganeseSoybeans are processed (by acid washing) in aluminum tanks, which can leach high levels of aluminum into the final soy product. Soy formula has up to 80 times higher manganese than is found in human breast milk.
  8. Soy infant formula puts your baby's health at risk.Nearly 20 percent of U.S. infants are now fed soy formula, but the estrogens in soy can irreversibly harm your baby's sexual development and reproductive health. Infants fed soy formula take in an estimated five birth control pills' worth of estrogen every day.Infants fed soy formula have up to 20,000 times the amount of estrogen in circulation as those fed other formulas!

There is also the issue of pesticides and genetic modification.

Soy foods are both heavily sprayed with pesticides and genetically modified (GM). More than 80 percent of the soy grown in the United States is GM. And more than 90 percent of American soy crops are GM.

Since the introduction of GM foods in 1996, we've had an upsurge in low birth weight babies, infertility, and other problems in the U.S. population, and animal studies thus far have shown devastating effects from consuming GM soy.

You may want to steer clear of soy products for no other reason than a commitment to avoiding GM foods… unless you wish to be a lab animal for this massive uncontrolled experiment by the biotech industry.

What Soy Products are Good For You?

I want to be clear that I am not opposed to all soy. Soy can be incredibly healthful, but ONLY if it is organic and properly fermented.

After a long fermentation process, the phytate and "anti-nutrient" levels of soybeans are reduced, and their beneficial properties become available to your digestive system.

You may have heard that Japanese people live longer and have lower rates of cancer than Americans because they eat so much soy—but it's primarily fermented soy that they consume, and it's always been that way.

Fermented soy products are the only ones I recommend consuming.

These are the primary fermented soy products you'll find:

-Tempeh a fermented soybean cake with a firm texture and nutty, mushroom-like flavor.

-Miso, a fermented soybean paste with a salty, buttery texture (commonly used in miso soup).

-Natto, fermented soybeans with a sticky texture and strong, cheese-like flavor.

-Soy sauce, which is traditionally made by fermenting soybeans, salt and enzymes; be wary because many varieties on the market today are made artificially using a chemical process.

Please note that tofu is NOT on this list. Tofu is not fermented, so is not among the soy foods I recommend.

First Paralyzed Human Treated With Stem Cells Has Now Regained His Upper Body Movement

Imagine losing control of your car and waking up in the hospital paralyzed from the neck down. This is the story of Kristopher Boesen, who experienced a life-changing moment where his car spiraled out of control on a slippy road surface, slamming into a tree and lamp post. Doctors warned Kris's parents that he might never be able to function from the neck down again.

The Procedure

stem-cell-doctor-670x447

Kris was offered the opportunity to go through a potentially life-changing procedure involving stem cells, which 'have the capability to repair injured nervous tissue through replacement of damaged cells' (1). The experimental procedure did not guarantee any restoration to Kris's paralysis, but to him, the risk was worth taking.

The process began in April where Dr. Liu injected 10 million AST-OPC1 cells directly into Kris' cervical spinal cord. Dr. Liu explains that; "Typically, spinal cord injury patients undergo surgery that stabilizes the spine but does very little to restore motor or sensory function. With this study, we are testing procedure that may improve neurological function, which could mean the difference between being permanently paralyzed and being able to use one's arms and hands. Restoring that level of function could significantly improve the daily lives of patients with severe spinal injuries." (2)

The Results

After a mere 3 weeks of therapy, Kris started showing signs of improvement, and within 2 months he could answer the phone, write his name and operate a wheelchair.  He had regained significant improvement in his motor functions; which are the transmissions of messages from the brain to muscle groups to create movement (3).

Kris recovered two spinal chord levels which made a huge difference in his movement abilities. It was the difference between minimal movement or none at all and being able to function on his own. Kris regained the incredibly important aspect of independence.

After seeing the results of stem cell therapy, Kris was bowled over, saying; "All I've wanted from the beginning was a fighting chance…But if there's an opportunity for me to walk again, then heck yeah! I want to do anything possible to do that."

stem-cell-patient-670x446

Although doctors are not able to make any promises that Kris's condition will further improve, they can keep experimenting with stem cell research to try and improve the likelihood of it working fully on paralysis.

So far, they have made huge steps forward and will hopefully continue to do so in their quest to solve paralysis, by teaming up with 'associate faculty based in departments across KSOM and the University to study stem cell-driven new medicine', Dr. Liu and his team at USC are determined to keep researching stem cells and much more!

Stem cell research is ongoing and can be used in many ways other than paralysis; from Parkinson's and diabetes to cancer (4). To find the latest news regarding stem cell research check this website out.

10 Reasons Why You NEED to Get a Himalayan Salt Block

You've probably heard about some of the magical things a Himalayan salt LAMP can do for you. But have you heard of the wonders of the Himalayan pink salt block? Or perhaps the idea of cooking on a big brick of sunset-hued crystal is totally new to you. Either way, you're in the right place.

The Himalayan pink salt block is catching on and for good reason. Not only do these colorful prehistoric crystals make healthier, tastier and more interesting meals, they're also just darn pretty to look at! Not enough, you say? Here are our top 10 reasons that the Himalayan pink salt block is a must-have natural health tool that everyone needs in their kitchen.

1. Adds Healthy Minerals To Food

Cooking on a pink salt block naturally imparts the incredible health benefits of Himalayan pink salt into your food. Such health benefits include balancing your body's pH, stabilizing hydration levels, improving digestion and reducing acid reflux. Of course, the amount of salt that is absorbed depends on a number of factors – moisture level, thickness and oil content of the food being prepared, as well as the temperature of the block being a few of the major determinants.

2. More Complex Taste Than Table Salt

In addition to NaCl (plain old table salt) Himalayan pink salt contains over 80 trace minerals and other elements. Not only does this make HPS better for your health, it also has a much more complex flavor. Meals prepared on a Himalayan salt block will take on some of that complexity, turning familiar foods into a new and interesting experience.

3. A Hint of Salt, Not A Lot

Himalayan pink salt crystals have very low porosity and minimal moisture retention. Because of these two traits, HPS won't immediately upon contact transform food into an unbearable salty mess. Instead, your pink salt block will impart just a hint of its very interesting salt flavor into your food.

4. Naturally Anti-Microbial Surface

Unlike other food-preparation and cooking surfaces, you'll never have to worry about germs on a Himalayan pink salt block. This is also due to the low porosity and moisture retention of the salt which creates a naturally anti-microbial environment. (See the Use & Care section below for some quick cleaning tips.)

5. Extreme Temperature Resistance

In order to prevent cracking of the surface, salt blocks must be heated slowly (no more than 200 ºF per 15 minutes.) That said, Himalayan pink salt also has extreme temperature resistance with a melting point of just over 800 C (a little under 1500 ºF) making it excellent for high-heat cooking! Just be sure to have a good solid salt block holder for safe carrying of your super-hot HPS block.

6. Superior Heat Distribution

Due to the crystalline structure of Himalayan pink salt, heat spreads evenly through the entire block instead of radiating out from the middle and cooling toward the edges. Food prepared on the block will cook at the same pace whether it be in exact center, in a corner or anywhere in between.

7. Holds Temperature Longer

Also because of its crystalline structure, Himalayan pink salt blocks hold their temperature – whether it be hot or cold – longer than other cooking and serving surfaces. This means you won't have to worry about food prepared on your salt block getting cold or too warm while you finish up any accompanying dishes.

8. Use Heated or Chilled

While most of us probably got our salt blocks with the idea to cook food on them, some of the most interesting dishes you will prepare (and serve!) on your block are those best served cold.

If you're anything like me and you love sashimi, the pink salt block will be your new best friend. Imagine serving sake, hamachi and maguro arranged artfully on a chilled pink salt block. Your friends will be talking about it for months!

9. Food Cures Through Contact

Raw foods like sashimi will actually begin to cure the longer they rest on the salt block. This is fascinating to watch for both children and adults!

10. Blocks Double As Serving Platters

These blocks are so beautiful and intriguing that it is almost impossible to notuse them as serving platters. Mark Bitterman – American food writer and owner of The Meadow – captured this idea perfectly when he said, "There is a tactility and an immediacy to having this giant white hot block of 600-million-year-old salt on a table that turns us all into apes. It's just this gorgeous, luminous thing."[source: Reuters]

20 Home Remedies for Reducing High Cholesterol

Cholesterol is a fatty substance found in the blood. It is builds up healthy cells and maintains cell membranes. Our bodies produce cholesterol, but we can also get it from the food we eat.

It has a great number of functions, and converting the sunlight into vitamin D is one of the most essential. But, keep in mind that high cholesterol level  increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

High cholesterol, or hypercholesterolemia, leads to an increased risk of coronary heart disease which causes heart attacks. Proper diet, regular exercising and maintaining normal weight are the three main factors that can help you regulate cholesterol levels.

Cholesterol level starts increasing after the age of 20. Remember, you should keep an eye on your weight and introduce some healthy lifestyle and dietary habits. This will keep you safe from diseases.

Home Remedies for High Cholesterol Levels

1. Nuts

Nuts are packed with healthy monounsaturated fats, proteins, fiber, nutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants. A handful of nuts per day is quite enough to regulate your cholesterol level. Eat peanuts, walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds, pistachios, pecans, and other nuts and reduce your blood cholesterol.

Scientists have found that a quarter cup of almonds a day lowers the LDL by 4.4 percent. In addition tot his, you can also roast your almonds. Walnuts are loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, and these particular nuts can help you lower your LDL by 16 percent.

Note – Avoid overeating, because nuts are pretty high in calories.

2. Oatmeal

According to health experts, oats are the ideal cholesterol buster. By consuming this food you get enough soluble fiber and beta-glucans that reduce the absorption of cholesterol and decrease its level naturally. Eat 1½ cups of oatmeal regularly and drop your LDL by 12-24%.

3. Orange Juice

Orange juice is an excellent source of vitamin C, flavonoids and folate. Regular consumption of 3 cups of fresh orange juice can help you reduce your blood cholesterol levels.

4. Coriander Seeds

Scientists have confirmed that coriander has the ability to decrease your total cholesterol  and triglycerides. Coriander seeds have potent hypoglycemic effects, meaning they are also great for diabetics.

Combine a cup of water and 2 teaspoons of coriander seed powder. Boil the mixture for a few seconds, and strain. You can add some milk, sugar, and cardamom to taste. For optimal results drink it twice a day.

5. Apple Cider Vinegar

According to some experts, apple cider vinegar lowers triglyceride and total cholesterol levels. It is quite effective in the treatment of many ailments. Stir a teaspoon of organic apple cider vinegar in a glass of water and drink it 2 – 3 times a day. For optimal results, drink this mixture for a month.

  • If you don't like the taste of this drink, you can always add some fresh orange, grape, apple juice or whatever you may prefer.

6. Honey

Honey is packed with many minerals and vitamins which make it an amazing cholesterol buster. Moreover, its antioxidants prevent the cholesterol from moving out of the blood and it also prevents its absorption into the lining of the blood vessels.

  • Stir a teaspoon of honey into a cup of hot water. Optionally, you can add a teaspoon of lemon juice or 10 drops of apple cider vinegar. Always drink it in the morning. This will help you reduce the excess fat in your body and maintain normal cholesterol level.
  • Alternatively, you can combine a teaspoon of ground cinnamon and a cup of boiling water. Cover and leave it for half an hour. Strain and add a teaspoon of honey to the concoction. Drink it half an hour before you eat or drink anything.

7. Garlic

Thanks to its high nutritional value and unique taste, garlic has become a kitchen staple. It not only adds a great flavor to your dishes, but it is also extremely efficient in the treatment of many diseases.

Garlic has potent anti-clotting properties and together with its sulfur contents, garlic regulates cholesterol levels and reduces the formation of plaque in blood vessels and prevents any clotting that may cause heart stroke. Eat 2 – 4 cloves of garlic every day.

8. Turmeric

Turmeric has amazing wound healing properties. It reduces LDL cholesterol; hence, it can remove the plaque buildups on the walls of the arteries. Eventually, this will reduce your blood cholesterol.

  • Add a dash of turmeric powder while cooking. This is one of the best ways to get the recommended daily amount of this powerful herb.
  • You can also cook 1½ tablespoons of water, ¾ teaspoon turmeric and 2 tablespoons of previously cooked and mashed eggplant. Eat this paste with your favorite whole wheat bread and this may soon turn into your favorite snack.

9.Coconut Oil

Even though coconut oil has saturated fat, it is still considered to be one of the most effective home remedies when it comes to reducing high cholesterol. Coconut oil is rich in lauric acid known for its ability to increase HDL and improve the LDL/HDL ratio. Add moderate amount of organic coconut oil while cooking. Eat at least 1-2 tablespoons of coconut oil every day.

Note — Never consume processed or refined coconut oil.

10. Fenugreek Seeds

Fenugreek seeds are packed with minerals like potassium, iron, calcium, selenium, manganese and zinc. They are also rich in vitamins B, A and C.

The steroidal saponins, found in fenugreek seeds, can reduce the absorption of cholesterol from the fatty foods we eat. Consume 2 ounces of fenugreek seeds a day to decrease your cholesterol by 14 percent. Moreover, these seeds reduce the risk of heart attack by 25%.

  • Alternatively, you can consume ground Fenugreek seeds combined with some water.
  • Add fenugreek to salads to increase the mineral intake.

These seeds can be also added as a spice to different dishes.

Note:

  • Fenugreek seeds have a strong and bitter taste, so be careful when adding these to your food. Soak the seeds overnight to reduce their bitterness.
  • Fenugreek leaves are not bitter and you can use them as much as you can. They give a quite pleasing aroma and taste to your food.

11. Avocados

Although avocados do not contain any dietary cholesterol, they can directly affect your cholesterol levels. The creamy fruit is rich with essential nutrients qualities and it also contains a significant amount of fiber and good fats, including oleic acid, a healthy monounsaturated fat that lowers the bad cholesterol level and increases the HDL (good cholesterol).

You can add it to a variety of dishes. Add it to your guacamole, add avocado chunks to your salad or top your sandwich. Alternatively, you can make a super-delicious avocado dip.

Note — As they are high in calories and fat (30 grams fat and 300 calories per avocado), always consume avocados moderately.

12. Apples

Apples are rich in pectin and their skin is loaded with natural antioxidants known as flavonoids that decrease cholesterol level and keep the lungs healthy.  A medium sized apple contains large amounts of vitamin A and C, about 4 grams of fiber and less than 100 calories. So, nothing can stop you from enjoying this healthy fruit.

  • Pears, oranges, grapefruits, berries, and pomegranates also reduce blood cholesterol levels due to their high fiber content.

Note – Do not peel your fruits as their skin contains more fiber.

13. Celery

Celery is rich in antioxidants and it can lower the risk of heart disease, because it has the ability to prevent the oxidation of LDL cholesterol. Butylphthalide, a component found in celery, can regulate the cholesterol level. Add it to your salads, vegetable juice, soups and many other dishes.

  • You can also make celery juice, using its leaves.
